Xyplor receives $10,000 VELA microgrant to expand its AI creation platform for homeschool families

AUSTIN, Texas — July 28, 2026 — Xyplor, the AI creation platform that lets kids ages 6–17 build real games, quizzes, storybooks, and tools by directing AI in plain English, has been awarded a $10,000 microgrant from VELA, the national fund for founder-led, family-chosen education.

VELA has invested more than $50 million in over 5,000 education founders serving learners in all 50 states, backing "everyday entrepreneurs" who build learning options outside the conventional system. Xyplor joins the VELA Founder Network as a microgrant recipient.

The grant funds the pieces of Xyplor that most directly serve homeschool families: an age-tiered, multi-week homeschool curriculum track now in development; the character and sprite library that raises the visual quality of every project a child builds (its first major expansion shipped in July 2026); continued hardening of the 10-week long-form project experience; and the AI inference costs of an expanded free tier so more families can try real AI creation without a credit card. The founder draws no salary from the grant.

"Homeschool parents were among the first people to understand what Xyplor is for — their kids don't need another screen to consume, they need a tool that turns screen time into making things," said Vinay Abburi, founder of Xyplor and a parent of two. "VELA funds people building education outside the default system, which is exactly where our families live. This grant goes entirely into the product surface those families use."

Xyplor is a maker tool, not a chatbot: a kid describes what they want to build, the AI generates a real, playable version in about a minute, and the kid iterates and publishes to a parent-approved gallery. Every AI conversation is visible to parents, kids need a parent-set PIN, and creations require parent approval before going public. The platform is COPPA-compliant, runs no ads, and does not sell kid data. It is free to start, with paid family plans from $34.99/month and an $8/student/month tier for schools, co-ops, and after-school programs.

VELA microgrants are philanthropic and non-dilutive — Xyplor remains fully founder-owned, funded by grants and revenue from the families it serves.
